Traffic Signal Phasing Examples

The links below provide examples of the Movement and Sequence chart to be shown on Traffic Signal Plans in accordance with Chapter 33 of Publication 149 for various phasing scenarios. These examples are based on the May 2026 edition of Publication 149. The Movement and Sequence chart and Timing tables shown in these examples should be incorporated into new traffic signal designs as soon as possible without impacting project schedules, and must be used for projects let after October 1, 2026.

Where existing traffic signals plans are modified, such as Level 0, 1, or 2 projects (see Chapter 6 of Pub. 149), an older Movement, Sequence, and Timing chart may be retained.
